Jun. 3--Higher subsidies have been proposed for gasohol to make the alternative fuel more attractive to drivers, according to Metta Banturngsuk, director-general of the Energy Policy and Planning Office (EPPO).
The proposal for the state oil fund to lift subsidies was approved by the Committee on Energy Policy Administration.
However, Mr Metta said, ethanol producers were also seeking an increase in the price of ethanol used in gasohol to 16.50 baht per litre from 12.75 baht, citing the sharp increase in costs of raw materials, particularly molasses and tapioca.
