Jun. 2--Government bonds had a quiet debut on the Bond Electronic Exchange yesterday, with all ten bond tranches ending the day with no transactions.

Ten tranches of government bonds with maturities from 1.5 to 14.5 years were listed on the BEX yesterday, a move that authorities hope will help boost investor interest and liquidity on the exchange.

The BEX, a unit of the Stock Exchange of Thailand, had previously focused on corporate debentures. The new government bonds more than double the total amount of debt registered on the exchange, to 496.22 billion baht from 203.03 billion baht.
