The Dow industrials fell 0.7% and the S&P 500 0.6% in heavier volume Tuesday. Despite the pullback, more stocks with strong EPS and RS Ratings advanced than declined.

Eagle Materials dropped 2.94 to 87.67 in double regular volume. BB&T Capital Markets downgraded the stock from buy to hold. Friday the construction materials maker rallied to an all-time high of 91.85.

Gardner Denver slipped 0.65 to close at 38.35, its intraday low, in heavy trade. The maker of pumps and compressors for industrial customers got regulators' OK last week to acquire Thomas Industries for $480 million in cash and lease assumption. Thomas also makes pumps and compressors.

Medco Health Solutions sliced its 50-day moving average as it fell 2.20 to close at 50 in above-average turnover. The stock has run up 31% ...
