8 Successful folks often feel a strong desire to achieve perfection. Yet those who accomplish great things are able to release themselves from perfectionism.
At some point in their careers, winners realize that true innovation and excellence can become squelched when a person leans too hard on the hope of being perfect.
"People get labeled as perfectionists because they care about every last detail of what they are involved in or working on," said Paul Entin, president of EPR Marketing.
"For people to achieve excellence without becoming hung up by a sometimes impossible quest for 100% perfection, people need to define perfectionism versus mere excellence and reconcile with the goal."
Entin uses a baseball analogy to explain his point.
"If the bases are loaded in the bottom of the 9th of a tied game, for example, and the batter hits a grand slam home run to win the game, that can be considered perfection for the batter," he said.
