Jun. 1--Businesses are pushing the government to spend an additional 500 million baht to increase the size of the deep-sea port in Ranong now under construction.
Cargo ship owners and automobile manufacturers say that the port has good potential to be used to transport goods to South Asia if it is enlarged, according to Ninnart Chaithirapinyo, vice-chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) and chairman of the FTI's Automobile Industry Club.
"Ranong Port could shorten delivery time from the Andaman Sea to South Asia, as well as to the Middle East region, by four to 10 days," said Mr Ninnart, who also is a member of the Port Authority of ...
