Sun Life Chief: U.S. Annuity Business Lackluster
C. James Prieur, president and chief operating officer of Sun Life Financial, declared 2004 "the year of distribution for Sun Life" during a presentation for a recent UBS Global Financial Services conference. The company plans on nearly tripling its sales force by the end of the year, and will be hiring more than two dozen wholesalers for its U.S. individual annuity business to reach that goal.
"We will be investing fairly heavily in distribution this year," he said, referring both to expansion in the U.S. and Canada.
