State moves on subway shares.

Jun. 1--The cabinet yesterday approved plan to buy back a 25 percent holding in the subway operator Bangkok Metro Co Ltd (BMCL), the first concrete step of the government's ambitious plan to consolidate Bangkok's mass transit system.
Under a Transport Ministry proposal, the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) would secure loans from domestic financial institutions to buy 2,417 million shares of BMCL at one baht par.
Because the MRTA is not yet earning sufficient revenue from the subway system, the Budget Bureau would have to set aside additional funds for the state agency to service the loan interest and ...
