When Karl Kuczmera heads off to the University of Florida in August, he'll do so with 31 college credits already under his belt.

The Lemon Bay High School senior has spent two mornings a week this year in college-level classes at Manatee Community College in Venice.

Karl, 17, said the classes "took a little more work than high school and a little more time," but he's glad he invested that work and time. He hopes to attend the university's School of Design and Construction and pursue a career in large-scale contracting.
