Helen Keller once said, "Life is either a daring adven ture or it is nothing," but she never drove a U-Haul. I've come to understand that people like me have a mission in life: creating change, movement, maybe even improvement.
In hindsight, that's probably what got me fired from three professional jobs: I wanted to move the organizations and their leaders were quite happy with the status quo, thank you very much.
WIHE mission
Since our mission statement involves the goals to enlighten, encourage, empower, enrich and enrage women, it's no wonder we invest a lot of time and energy in helping move people's minds in a positive way.
Most the articles we print involve moving minds: people sharing new ideas or programs in an attempt to change the world or at least tiny pockets of it. In fact, the most common format of our articles is to piss-and-moan about a situation, and then offer suggestions to improve it.
Last month we took a more literal definition of moving, sending seven boxes of books to new homes on campuses. Four women's centers had contacted us after our offer to donate the books.
