The management of Florida's Port Everglades appointed a new port director after the ouster of the previous management team last month.
Debbie Bowers, an attorney and the Broward County director of real property with little experience in the maritime industry, takes over at a rocky time for the port, as philosophical differences between county commissioners and port leadership over failed business plans threate to slow growth.
