PCOs delay enhanced services deals.

LMCs will advise GPs to walk away from enhanced services if primary care organisations (PCOs) fail to agree inflationary pay uplifts by June.

Many PCOs have yet to begin negotiations on enhanced services for 2005/6 and in the interim have rolled on 2004/5 contracts for the first quarter.

LMCs said deficits in many areas were holding PCOs back from decisions about spending. Negotiations are also being held up by disputes over whether spending floors had been met in 2004/5. Many PCOs also have yet to finalise last year's accounts.
