From your letter, I could not tell how old are you but the handwriting did seem like that of an adult. That alone proves to me that the damage may not be that bad, since you've already made it to the adulthood. At the same time, this is not the time to let your guard down. You must get to the bottom of the old information by visiting a doctor. It will be quite clear from the rest of the article that finding a life threatening congenital heart disease is generally not that difficult with modern technology.
