My paintings are inquiries. I paint to find answers, and I have found that often the question becomes equally important. I use the paintings to work through my own questions. Mainly the paintings critique or investigate the relevance and construct of power structures, life, God, the female mind and the perception of self. Because I do not possess concrete answers for what I paint about, I often do not strive to provide the audience with an answer; I seek instead to provide questions and a starting point for inquiry. I strive to make my paintings intimate, as if I am sharing a secret with my audience. I hope that by inviting viewers into my internal dialogue it will inspire them …
