"Unleashed" has a good idea and a great character, and it can't figure out what to do with them.
The character is Danny, and he's effectively played by Jet Li ("Hero"). Danny is a snarling, kicking attack dog, trained for mayhem by a gangster played by Bob Hoskins. But, even as he's cracking necks like walnuts, the wounded, uncomprehending look in Danny's eyes tells us he's a "dog" who has been abused and not just by Hoskins. When Danny meets a gentle blind man (Morgan Freeman), "Unleashed" gives him a chance to see that there's more to life than violence and hate.
