May 9--With first-quarter economic growth well below expectations at just 3.4 percent, Finance Ministry officials say growth for the full year could be less than 5 percent, one full point below original targets.
The National Economic and Social Development Board is scheduled to announce the official first-quarter growth figures on June 6.
Previous forecasts had projected growth of 6 percent for the first quarter, compared with 5.1 percent in the fourth quarter and 6.1 percent for all of 2004.
