May 6--The local gypsum market will likely expand at a slower pace this year than in 2004, according to Siam Gypsum Industry (Saraburi) Co, a Franco-Thai joint venture between Lafarge Boral Gypsum in Asia and the Siam Cement Group.

Due to the sluggish property market, total sales of gypsum in Thailand are projected to increase by only 10-15 percent this year compared with growth of 22-23 percent last year, said Olivier Guilluy, Siam Gypsum's managing director.

Industry-wide market turnover is estimated at about three billion baht, with consumption of gypsum board estimated to be 55 million square metres or 0.8 sq m per ...
