May 6--It looks like the Central New Jersey economy is going to lose more than 400 jobs in the next two months, with four companies cutting back or closing operations, according to the Department of Labor.
Maximus Inc. is eliminating 179 jobs at its offices on Millstone Road in East Windsor as it ends its run as the manager of the state's NJ FamilyCare child-health-insurance program.
"It's not so much that we're going to cut jobs, but we're closing our operations because we lost the rebid of the contract to another competitor," Rachel Rowland, spokeswoman for the Reston, Va.-based government-services contractor, said.
