May 5--Federal regulators have imposed civil penalties on four former Chesapeake Corp. executives as part of a settlement of alleged accounting violations at one of the Richmond-based company's former subsidiary companies.
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission said yesterday that the former executives -- William T. Tolley, Carlos A. Gonzalez, William D. Wiseman and Douglas J. Rex -- have consented to various penalties but have admitted no wrongdoing in what the agency called a "fraudulent scheme to materially misstate the quarterly earnings of Chesapeake Corp. in 2000."
