May 5--COLUMBUS -- Ohio is on the brink of joining more than 40 other states that allow Medicaid to pay for assisted-living care, but there's a catch.
Ohio's senior citizens on Medicaid may only get their assisted-living care at nursing home facilities, according to pending legislation.
The Ohio House slipped an amendment into the 2,700-page budget bill that would restrict participation in the Medicaid assisted-living program to operators that convert empty nursing home beds or have nursing homes on campus.
