May 5--Concerns over high energy consumption has prompted the government to announce a new campaign to conserve energy with an aim to generate savings of 70 billion baht this year.
The measures include the indefinite extension of electricity saving campaign which is due to expire this month, completion of the construction of 120 natural gas for vehicle (NGV) filling stations before 2008, promotion of gasohol use in the automobiles and stepping-up state agencies and enterprises to reduce power bills by at least 10 percent.
