May 4--Eastern Wire Plc (EWC), an investment holding company, will expand its investments in steel manufacturing to maximise the benefits of its subsidiaries, according to director Pirom Priyawat.

"Businesses related to the steel industry provide an estimated return on investment of at least 15 percent, so it is an opportunity for the company," he said yesterday.

The company projects its revenue will grow by 15 percent this year in line with the average growth of the steel industry. It reported a net profit of 257 million baht for 2004, up from 8.2 million a year earlier.
