U.S. wealthy getting fatter faster
Obesity is growing fastest among Americans making more than $60,000 a year, University of Iowa researchers found. In the 1970s, 22.5% of people with incomes under $25,000 were obese compared with 9.7% of those with incomes over $60,000. By '02, 32.5% of the poor were obese compared to 26.8% of the wealthy. The poor had logged a 10% gain against the 17.1% rate the rich had. Researchers theorize longer working hours and commutes are to blame.
