May 3--After a seven-year absence from Asia, Singapore-based Fraser & Neave Limited is ready to bring back its Sarsi root beer to the Thai market, together with greater expansion in the food business.
Back in 1950, the root-beer drink made its first entry into Thailand. It successfully dominated the market within a few years to the point that the brand name was synonymous to root-beer to local people, especially baby boomers or those born between 1946 and 1964.
But the product was withdrawn from the Thai market seven years ago when Fraser & Neave Limited (F&N), the owner of Sarsi in Singapore, became an authorised distributor for Coca-Cola's Coke, Fanta ...
