Democrats Want It All
Regarding "No Deal" (Editorial, Wednesday): Democratic Sen. Harry Reid's threat to filibuster judicial nominees is the same as stopping democracy. This only helps to prove my theory about the Democratic Party. It doesn't want democracy. It wants totalitarian rule -- its totalitarian rule.

"A Family Focus Gives The Left Edge On Taxes" (On The Left, Tuesday) by Paul Weinstein Jr. is so full of errors, faulty thinking and faulty reasoning that I feel compelled to put the record straight. I think Weinstein counted on people reading his article without really thinking about it and without reasoning it out.
He says those making $50,000 a year and those making $500,000 a year pay the same taxes under the consumption tax. Wrong. Under such a tax, which is not a graduated tax, the more you earn, the more you spend and the more taxes you pay. Example:
Last year Mr. Extravagant, Mr. Average and Mr. Tightwad watched the Super Bowl.
