With the myriad of corporate scandals in the past few years and increased scrutiny of chief executives from all directions, it's tough being a CEO.
CEO turnover jumped 25% in March, with 129 departures, according to Challenger, Gray & Christmas. It was the fifth straight month of higher turnover.
George Brandt, CEO of PrimeGenesis, an executive coaching firm, says it will get tougher.
"In the last few years the rate of CEO failure has increased, and we expect, with directors and shareholders getting even more involved, it will continue to accelerate," said Brandt.
PrimeGenesis, which helps executives navigate through their first 100 days at a new job, used its experience to compile a list of the seven most common reasons CEOs fail.
