Death sentence in G.I. killings
Sgt. Hasan Akbar, 34, was ordered to die for his March '03 fatal attack on fellow soldiers in Kuwait. Two officers were killed and 14 other soldiers were wounded when Akbar tossed a grenade into their tent. Akbar, a Muslim, had opposed the Iraq War. He apologized in court for the killings in a nearly inaudible voice before the verdict.
