PUNTA GORDA -- A Monroe County roofer whose permitting privileges the city suspended indefinitely this week said he wants to be reinstated.

Victor Harris, owner of Victor's Roofing, said he plans to address the complaints that led the city's Building Board to discipline him on Tuesday.

Harris wasn't present to defend himself before the board. He said Thursday that he didn't show up because he was out of state on vacation and didn't know of the hearing.

Homeowners complained that the contractor didn't return phone calls for weeks, and some were worried that the roofer had abandoned his jobs.
