Five city councilors listened intently while they heard details of the mayor's proposed $447 million general fund budget.

But outside council chambers Thursday, the show was being stolen.

Holding court was Margaret Aragon de Chavez, ex-wife of Mayor Martin Chavez, who is considering a run to unseat her former husband.

Her presence before the City Council her first in "a very long time," she said appeared to be a signal that her interest in running for mayor is more than just a casual interest.

"I'm still keeping my options open," she said.
