The publication of a book written by a leading personality in Systems Science should be welcome in itself as a major publishing event. Yet reliance on the fame of an author neither provides grounds for evaluating the worth of his book nor promotes scientific discussion and is hardly compatible with the method of science, a method to which John Warfield has dedicated his efforts throughout his lifetime.

The book has as its subject 'a process aimed at resolving complexity'.
