Apr. 22--While the heavy-duty truck side of Fort Wayne Vehicle Auction celebrated its 21st anniversary Wednesday with a sale that included more than 550 trucks and tractors, a key figure in its startup was on the other end of town preparing to repeat history.
Chuck Frauhiger and his brother, Dale, have folded their heavy-duty truck wholesaling business into Indiana Auto Auction in a deal to start a heavy-duty truck auction there. Terms were not disclosed.
At Fort Wayne Vehicle Auction, "I had so much fun at it, we're going to go Round 2," said Chuck Frauhiger with a smile, reflecting on his truck auction days there 21 years ago.
Indiana Auto Auction's first heavy-duty truck auction is scheduled for 1 p.m. May 17 at its facility at 4425 W. Washington Center Road.
That's a Tuesday, and it's not a coincidence that all Indiana Auto Auction heavy-duty truck sales will take place a day before a similar sale takes place at Fort Wayne Vehicle Auction and two days before one at ABC Auto Auction in Indianapolis.
Among the heavy-duty truck buyers who get their vehicles at auction, "most guys kind of stick to a circuit," said Wayne Horn, Indiana Auto Auction president.
