Kansas Bitt promises to speed up payments on construction jobs.(Lien Law)
A bill that unanimously passed the Kansas Senate Commerce Committee on March 10, sponsored by the American Subcontractors Association, could result in speedier payments by owners of construction projects to contractors, as well as payments to subcontractors and suppliers. Substitute Senate Bill 33, known as the Kansas Fairness in Private Construction Contract Act, if enacted, would allow parties involved in private construction contracts to get paid on timely basis. It also affords several other protections to ensure full and proper payment to businesses that supply labor and materials for construction projects.
