Apr. 12--TAMPA -- Lee Roy Selmon Expressway tolls will increase in 2007 -- 2 1/2 years earlier than scheduled -- to pay for $99 million in repairs to the elevated lanes being built in the highway's median.
Expressway officials were quick to blame the increase on URS Corp., chief engineering consultant and designer of the support pier that sank and caused a section of the road to collapse. Wednesday marks the first anniversary of the accident.
