Today's concert by the choral ensemble Gloria Musicae sounds like a royal treat.

Joined by a baroque orchestra, the singers will perform pieces associated with British kings and queens -- and one famous princess.

One of the works, "Pastime with Good Company," was actually written by a king -- none other than Henry VIII.

The 4 p.m. concert is at Sarasota's Church of the Redeemer, 222 S. Palm Ave.

Elwood Smith, the ensemble's artistic director, said he's been thinking about a concert like this since hearing a performance of royal music in the Abbey at Bath, England, 20 years ago.
