Sector update - Library automation services. Library information is coming off the shelves and into the 24-hour, on-demand electronic age. Corporate and academic libraries are increasingly looking to library automation tools to open up their services to user demands. This month's Sector Update lists some of the market leaders, their products and latest upgrades.

Overview: Bailey Solutions specialises in library and information management systems based on the Microsoft platform. Products include PenLib, an integrated system for small libraries, KnowAll and Konduct for advanced functionality and integration with knowledge management, and LookUp, which is a web-hosted online catalogue system. All products have an optional web OPAC to search the catalogue using a browser.

New product/service: LookUp, combines a web OPAC with web-based administration forms, allowing managers to maintain library stock from anywhere and browse the catalogue from work or home. LookUp has an all-inclusive monthly subscription price from [pounds sterling]40, PenLib from [pounds sterling]1,400, KnowAll from [pounds sterling]1,600 and Konduct from [pounds sterling]2,500.
