Birmingham College of Food, Tourism and Creative Studies (BCFTCS) academics and students will soon be able to access library resources through a portal, which will provide users with channel-based customisation, advanced searching facilities and a number of self-service options.

The new facilities are being developed as BCFTCS replaces its nine-year-old Dynix library system with the Horizon Information Management System, also from Dynix.

BCFTCS library users will be able to access the portal from any location, and user authentication features will allow users to create personal bibliographies that may be emailed or printed, as the system recognises each user.

Librarians at BCFTCS will be able to further customise the library system to suit the ongoing needs of the library. Gill Carter, Dynix European marketing manager, said: ...
