Morgan Stanley dispute deepens
Shareholders and former senior execs of the investment bank, broker and lender pushed the board to replace CEO Philip Purcell with Robert Scott, a former chief operating officer and chief financial officer at Morgan Stanley, where he worked 33 years. The investors have been waging a public battle vs. Purcell after he ousted several senior execs and replaced them with two managers seen as loyalists, who were quickly named to the board. Shares fell 3% to 56.45.

Critical report hits Sharper Image
The electronics retailer fell 8.5% to 14.32 after Consumer Reports magazine ran an article saying Sharper Image's Ionic Breeze Quadra Silent Air Purifier and 4 similar devices failed to significantly clean the air and also released potentially unhealthy levels of ozone. Two months earlier, Sharper Image paid Consumer Report's publisher $525,000 in legal costs after a judge dismissed a libel suit over earlier articles critical of the machine. Sharper Image has sold more than 2 mil of the $350 units.
