After more than 200 issues over the past 21 years, Wellesley College's Women's Review of Books printed its last issue in December. Editor-in-chief Amy Hoffman cited falling subscriptions and advertising plus increased costs as causing the death of the literary monthly.

Women's Review focused on non-fiction and fiction by and about women, using female reviewers. It also published poetry, essays, letters and classified ads. Its subscription base shrank by more than 50% during the last decade and debt rose to ...
