U.S. women earn more doctorates--again.(NEWSWATCH)(Brief Article)

For the second year in a row, American women earned more doctorate degrees than men, according to the annual Survey of Earned Doctorates. This year's survey, funded by several federal agencies, examined degrees awarded in 2003.

While women earned 51% of doctorates granted to Americans, they received 45% of doctorates when international students were included. Women earned 48% of the doctorates in life sciences, but only 27% in physical sciences and 17% in engineering.
