Apr. 6--The Government Savings Bank plans to join with foreign financial institutions to offer expanded credit services to overseas workers.
Goanpot Asvinvichit, the GSB president, said the bank would first begin the partnership with Taiwanese banks, starting with an agreement with China Trust.
China Trust will offer deposit services for Thai workers in Taiwan, and facilitate fund transfers back to the GSB in Thailand.
"The purpose is to improve the convenience for workers to send funds back home or to pay their debts," Mr Goanpot said, adding that an estimated 120,000 to 150,000 Thais were currently working in Taiwan.
