Ticktock! The hours are dwindling toward the April 15 deadline for filing tax returns.
But if you can't file by then, you can get a four-month extension.
"You don't need a reason," said Harris Abrams, a tax analyst at RIA, a firm that provides information and software to tax-preparation professionals. "You only need to ask."
To get the automatic extension, fill out and mail Form 4868 on or before April 15.
You can also request an extension online. You can even ask by phone.
The four-month extension pushes your deadline back to Aug. 15.
