Apr. 4--The State Audit Commission has ruled that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration should scrap its development budget allocated for city councillors, amounting to 900 million baht per year, due to questionable benefits.
Audit commissioner Kriengsak Watanawarangkoon said the commission last week met to discuss the BMA budget and follow up on findings by the Auditor-General's Office of improper spending by city councillors.
The audit commission in January 2004 submitted a letter to the BMA arguing that the budget should be scrapped.
The BMA, however, has refused, saying that the budget was properly allocated and necessary for development ...
