Apr. 2--PTT Plc will spend 10 billion baht to build its sixth gas separation plant as part of its plan to expand production capacity of olefins, according to Chitrapongse Kwangsukstith, PTT's senior executive vice-president.

The Rayong plant, with a capacity of 650 million cubic feet per day (mcfd) of gas separation, will accommodate the ethylene capacity expansion of PTT's olefins venture, PTT Polyethylene Co, to one million tonnes per year from 410,000 tonnes currently.

The gas separation plant is scheduled to be commercially operational in 2008. Construction will begin next year and is expected to take two years.
