On the last day of the first quarter, the Nasdaq slipped 0.3% Thursday as volume picked up. For the quarter, the index was down 8.1%.
Healthcare Services Group erased Wednesday's heavy-volume gains. The stock ended the session at 24.25, down 0.54 in more than double normal turnover. It was down as much as 5% intraday.
After advancing in unusually heavy volume Wednesday, Travelzoo reversed Thursday, slumping 3.13 to 49.72. Volume was twice the regular level. The online travel firm grew earnings 350% to 9 cents per share in the fourth quarter.
Dialysis Corporation of America fell 0.77 to 20.41 in brisk trade. Wednesday the operator of outpatient dialysis centers said fourth-quarter profit grew 80% to 9 cents per share. Sales rose 46%. The company opened seven dialysis centers during the year. Another five were under development at year's end.
Atlantis Plastics dropped 0.83, closing at 23.75 in robust turnover. The Atlanta-based company makes plastic films, injection molding and other products. It sports the second highest Relative Price Strength Rating, 95, in the Chemicals-Plastics group. The group is ranked No. ...
