Restaurant owner in tsunami-hit Khao Lak sells self-made video of disaster.
Apr. 1--After setting up his own business last November, Anukul Charoenkul, a Phangnga resident, seemed set to have an enviable career as the operator and owner of a seaview restaurant on the hillside at Khao Lak, then a major tourist destination in the South.
But barely two months after it opened for business, his popular seafood eatery stood empty after the beach was ruined by the tsunami on Dec 26.
Thousands of tourists and local people lost their lives and the surviving visitors fled the area immediately, turning Khao Lak from a crowded tourist spot into a ghost town overnight. Although his restaurant is located on high ground and was not damaged by ...
