Apr. 1--Commerce Minister Thanong Bidaya yesterday signed agreements with 37 suppliers, operators of supercentres, hypermarts and convenience stores not to raise product prices through the end of June.
Mr Thanong is also seeking co-operation from about 20 producers of construction materials such as cement and steel to freeze their prices for as long as possible.
He said it was necessary for the ministry to control product prices to keep the inflation rate in check, otherwise the government might have to apply some monetary measures to curb rising inflation.
