I'd like to thank Kate O'Beirne for her article on the impact of the Catholic vote in the recent presidential election ("Catholics For Bush," Nov. 29). As a Roman Catholic, I am proud of the tremendous inroads conservative Catholic voters have made toward becoming a majority nationwide among our faith.

Still, it's troubling that more than 14 million Catholics in this country voted for a candidate who supported abortion rights, refused to denounce same-sex marriage, and promoted embryonic stem-cell research, ...
