* The Washington Post claims that Bush's plans on taxes and Social Security carry a "price tag" of $3 trillion. Does this mean taxpayers are going to have to shell out an extra $3 trillion to pay for it? Well, no. It's not that kind of price tag. One trillion of the "cost" comes from making the tax cuts permanent, so it's a saving to taxpayers. Nor would Social Security reform increase taxpayer liabilities by the remaining $2 trillion.
