The UK's fourth ILR station and the first to serve Birmingham and surrounding area, when it first went on air on February 19 1974, BRMB or "the new 96.4 BRMB" as it was rechristened last year has seen competition grow enormously since the days when it commanded a greater than 50% share of listening in its area.
In spite of this, the station--part of the Capital Group--has reversed recent audience erosion, and increased both its share and audience hours in the most recent Rajar figures, as compared with both the same time last year, and the previous quarter.
Programme controller Adam Bridge is very positive about the figures, which show the station reaching 531,000 listeners per week, with a 10.6% share and average listening hours of 9.7.
