Dear Blackgirls,
Wow, what an intense 3 months this has been. I am sure those of you who are in high school may agree. It is my pleasure to finally bring you another issue of Blackgirl Magazine, one that has had to face many challenges. During the production of this issue we faced non stop drama. If it wasn't one issue, then it was another. But these "hurdles" as we say have only made us stronger than we were before. I have made the choice to publish Blackgirl, as a quarterly. That's 4 times a year. In this way we will tighen our production schedule and more effectively cater to your needs and the many ideas you have sent my way via fax and email.

Since, August, I have been enrolled in a private school here in Atlanta, Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy, where I am a sophomore. School has offered its own set of challenges especially since I've been homeschooled for the last four years. The adjustment however was painless as I've been blessed with some really great teachers. Plus I worked really hard. Yes, I am one of those students that has to work, so when I received my mid term progress reports I was excited to know that I had a grade point average of 3.6. As students we must set goals. Write them down and then work little by little to achieve them. At the end of this school year my goal is to have a 4.0 GPA.

As teens and young adults we have to keep ourselves focused. I know we want to be "all up in it" but concentration is a must. We have to challenge ourselves to lessen the distractions that always seem to be happening around us and we also need to work on more effective time management.
