Backchat was amused to discover that Jack Straw's Foreign Office has tasked an anonymous "senior business figure" with looking into an overhaul of MI6 - following the intelligence failures on WMD that led to the war in Iraq. The review will look at the way the secret intelligence service gathers and analyses information, as "stretched resources" appear to have allowed bad intelligence to filter into official briefing documents on WMD. Suggestions have been made that a system of "peer review", akin to the tried-and-tested model ...
